Workplace reform

The future

One year on

On the 26th February 2004 we celebrated our suite's first birthday.

In the past year Chaulden have achieved the following:

  • Due to the very high reliability of the facility and the negligible downtime, we have been able to rely on ICT as a fundamental tool in teaching all key subjects.
  • Cross curriculum lessons are held in the ICT suite from year 3 upwards, including the Speech and Language class. Enthusiasm for these subjects has been motivated by the new technology and can be seen in the standard of work being produced (see ICT across the Curriculum).
  • In recognition of our achievements so far, we are now associated with the Strategic Leadership in ICT programme (SLICT), run by the NCSL.
  • Our school is now virtually 'Paper Free' in that all our documents and planning are stored or implemented online.
  • We won Hertfordshire LEA's Innovation in ICT Award 2004 for our project 'Parents, Children and Computers - Learning Together'. The project is in the initial phase of our plans to offer ICT training and opportunities for family learning to parents and the wider community.
  • Pupils will not only be able to send e-mail within their own class but also to other classes, and even externally to other schools. Enabling them to share ideas and work with other children around the world.
  • In order to give other schools the opportunity to experience how ICT has transformed our school, we have held two open days in 2004, with 13 schools attending each day.
  • Eight schools, in the Hemel Hempstead area, including ourselves who have opted for an alternative ICT solution - Hobbs Hill Wood JMI, The Hammond Primary, Broadfield Junior, St Albert the Great Catholic Primary, Essendon C of E Primary, Woodside and St Paul's VA C of E Primary schools - have formed an informal support group to share ideas and expertise.
