Our Vision Statement
- To provide enough time for Teachers to prepare and deliver high quality lessons.
- To develop the role of Teaching Partners in our school, giving them the recognition they deserve.
- To make a realistic difference to work/life balance... not just in words!
The Story so far...
- We have spent NOTHING on supply in eighteen months (apart from supply funded through our insurance).
- Staff sickness has been significantly reduced.
- Parents are in full support of the initiative, not one complaint in a year.
- Governors see the benefits of not having 'unknown' supply staff in school, until it is absolutely necessary.
- Children show a deeper respect for Teaching Partners, they are not seen as being just 'helpers'.
- All staff continue to support the initiative. The benefits outweigh any weakness.
How has ICT helped us to achieve this vision:-
- All lesson plans and timetables are prepared electronically and stored in a central common area making them accessible and easily updatable.
- Teachers electronically highlight the units they have completed; this provides an immediate overview of what has been carried out.
- Laptops with wireless cards give teachers flexibility by providing them with the mobility to 'roam' from one classroom to another.
- The ability to store contact addresses, calendars, the school diary etc electronically using Microsoft Exchange and Outlook, enabling us to improve the coordination of staff, SMT and resources.
- Effective communication both internally and externally via email to Governors, stakeholders etc.
- Senior staff have started to use iPAQs, which allow them to be contacted and kept up to date whilst mobile around and outside the school.
- All Teaching Partners are trained in ICT to the same level as teachers and can therefore stand-in when required for lessons within the suite.
- ICT has helped by reducing bureaucracy and producing a virtually 'paper free' environment resulting in teachers becoming more effective when preparing and delivering their lessons. Leaving more time to focus on their pupils' requirements.
