The future
Over a year on and we are delighted with the impact an integrated ICT approach has had in our school. Everyday we are surprised by the work our children complete and the way they are keen to share their work and ideas with our staff and visitors.
At Chaulden, we now believe we are ready to take the next step forward and introduce more ICT into our curriculum time.
ICT has been approached not as a separate lesson but as a tool that supports learning. Visitors to our school and inspectors have all commented on the ease with which ICT has fitted into our curriculum and the obvious differences and impact it has made.
Our children will have the opportunity to use ICT to support their learning in up to eight sessions a week. To do this we have again invested in the support and expertise of Leverstock to help us establish our second ICT suite.
Using older PCs, we have been able to give them a new lease of life, thanks to a modern server system that supports our existing equipment. As well as this, we are aiming to go a little bit further with our second suite and give children more opportunities to record music, use music technology to compose and perform and also use Roamers in a more exciting way!
From the Autumn term our school will have nearly 100 terminals for children to access...not bad considering we only have 135 children in the school!
Thanks to the continued support of Leverstock and the professional team supporting and driving forward our ICT work, we are confident that we have made the right decisions that will ultimately have significant impact on the lives of the children in our care.
