Interactive Whiteboards
Interactive whiteboards are now taking the place of traditional blackboards; they are large touch-sensitive boards onto which computer images are projected.
The computer can be controlled not only via a keyboard and mouse, but also by using a remote control or by touching the board with a finger to drag and drop!
A major plus is that teachers and pupils can write on the board with dry wipe pens and then subsequently all of the board's contents can be saved or printed for future use - a copyboard facility.
Walk-and-Talk™ Interactive whiteboards provide the following benefits to schools:-
- Stimulating lessons which engage the pupils, by projecting and manipulating large colourful text, data, illustrations and animation, including video and materials from the internet.
- Motivation through pupil participation as they:-
- Can actively demonstrate their work to the rest of the class.
- Enjoy interacting physically with the applications on the board.
- Are able to manipulate text and images on the whiteboard in front of the class.
- The ability to be used by pupils at all levels, even nursery pupils, as a keyboard or mouse are not necessary to operate the technology.
- The ability to save or print the board's contents, including any notes written on it during the lesson, for retrieval at a later date.
- No requirement for additional training as standard Windows, Internet and educational software is used.
- The freedom to move and inspire, as the teacher can walk around the class, using the intuitive remote to control all the board functions, from anywhere in the room.
