Why use Backup Pilot?

BackupPilot combines local backup storage together with linking over broadband to a remote, highly reliable secure data centre where offsite copies of data are held. This solution provides the best of both worlds. No manual intervention is needed to ensure regular, automated backup of all an organisation’s data – and this can take place even if the internet connection is down.

Data transfer is kept to a minimum utilising both compression and data de-duplication techniques, and crucially, only transmitting the elements of files that have changed need to be backed up. Backups can be automatically transmitted over broadband – for example through the night – removing any burden on staff time and ensuring that resources are used when not needed for day-to-day activities.

Unlike a tape-based system, BackupPilot does not need any new software to be put on each device that needs backup. Instead, the appliance sits on the local LAN and uses an ‘agentless’ method of communication with PCs and servers. As many devices and applications as desired can be easily backed up and when restoral is needed this is quick and easy. Data is held in encrypted form at all stages.

Reasons to upgrade include:

  • No hidden hardware upgrade costs. No extra disk or hardware memory needs to be added to your servers.
  • Not dependent on the internet. Even if your broadband is down file backups and restores still occur.
  • No charges per backed up device. Any number of servers or PCs can be backed up at no extra cost.
  • Much more storage as standard. Our service offers 500gb of disk storage as a minimum standard – typically ten times more than other services.
  • No software or storage charges. No licenses to be paid annually.
