What is Thin Client computing?

Thin client computing is simply where you host all applications and data centrally on a server and access to these is by using a simple graphics based terminal – referred to as a thin client.

This is different from a ‘client-server’ architecture where some of the data and applications reside on PCs spread throughout the organisation. No applications or data are resident on the desktop, and so it is “thin” when compared to the traditional PC.

Windows Based Terminal Server

With this architecture you can run PC desktop applications centrally on a “Windows Mainframe” server running a Terminal/Server operating system such as Microsoft Windows 2008.
